The Applebee Preschool was established in 1996 by Joanie Giraudo, in an effort to provide a quality environment in which young children's natural curiosity and creativity are encouraged and developed. Joanie holds a Child Development Degree from De Anza College and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. Joanie lives on site with her middle school age daughter and enjoys antique shopping, interior design, hiking, working out, as well as spending time with her daughter, large extended family and friends.
Bev joined our staff in 1997. Bev has spent her teaching career at Applebee working with our preschool age kids. She works three full days and two mornings each week. Bev brings a wealth of child development knowledge to Applebee and tons and tons of experience working with young children. Spending time with young children is what Bev's all about. Bev also enjoys attending Stanford football games, live music, painting, trying out new recipes and spending time with her family and friends.
Stacy joined our staff in 2007. Stacy teaches the pre-k kids with Joanie. Stacy has an incredible amount of patience and genuinely loves spending time with young children. The kids adore her and she is always happy to see them! Stacy is creative and nurturing and truly enjoys her work. Stacy works three mornings and two full days each week. Stacy spends her free time hiking, surfing, snowboarding, working out, spending time outdoors and hanging out with family and friends.
Cecilia joined our staff in 2012 as our afternoon teacher. This year we were lucky enough to have her join us full time. Cecilia teaches our preschool kids with Bev and works five full days. Cecilia brings an amazing amount of creativity to Applebee and also shares a general love of teaching young children. We love watching her transform our classroom with her fun loving bulletin boards and art projects. When not at Applebee, Cecilia enjoys exercising, reading, being an auntie and spending time with her family and friends.
Recognizing that children are capable and competent, we are committed to providing a challenging program of developmentally appropriate activities as well as time for rest and contemplation. It is our goal to assist each child in his or her development by providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment staffed by warm, compassionate, and knowledgeable people. The Applebee Preschool is rich with materials which inspire a child to express his/her own thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
Each child will experience the wonders of learning and growing at his or her individual level and pace. Our program is geared toward helping children develop habits of observation, listening and question-asking. You will find that all of our daily activities are involved in the developmental process.
